PRE-INTERMEDIATE LEVEL (A2 in CEFR classification)

One of the following courses can be chosen at this stage, according to students’ age and knowledge: Messages 2, 3 (Cambridge University Press; 310 academic hours), or Inspiration 2, 3(Macmillan; 372 academic hours).

The major lexical topics covered are:

The higher level of language proficiency is, the richer the vocabulary is, and the wider the range of issues you can fluently speak about is. The basics of grammar learnt at the Beginner and Elementary levels are studied more thoroughly, and new grammar points are learnt as well. Attention is paid to such details as different use of prepositions, frequency of using some words, etc.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL (B1 in CEFR classification)

According to students’ age and knowledge, one of the two courses is chosen: Inspiration 4 (Macmillan; 186 academic hours), or New Cutting Edge Intermediate (Longman; 216 academic hours).

UPPER-INTERMEDIATE LEVEL (B2 in CEFR classification)

According to students’ knowledge, one of the two courses is chosen: New Cutting Edge Upper-Intermediate (Longman; 216 academic hours), or Upstream Upper-Intermediate (Express Publishing; 280 academic hours).

Some lexical topics do not change from level to level, e.g. appearance and personality, hobbies, jobs, health, etc. At the same time, a student masters their knowledge of grammar and vocabulary, so they are able to speak on these issues in a more sophisticated way. Students obtain not only knowledge, but also fluency; they start “feeling” the language and can even read authentic literature.
